Old Elbe Tunnel

A piece of history

At the western edge of the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken you find the “Old Elbe Tunnel” which was opened in 1911. From the outside its just a building with a green dome. But once you get down you see the two tubes passing under the Elbe river. Once they were a technical innovation, today they are landmarked. After the opening of the “new” Elbe Tunnel” and more bridge constructions in the 1970s the Old one was downgraded to a tourist attraction. Elevators bring you down to the bottom from where the 426m long route starts from one Elbe bank to the other.

Our guide will accompany you at your tour through the tunnels and provide you with all the important Information.
